Benefits
Lowers energy costs by reducing refrigeration workloads.
Maintains cold room integrity by blocking heat and humidity.
Supports steady, nonstop flow of people, pallets, and equipment.
Features & Benefits
Two Air Curtains, One Powerful Barrier
This dual-layer system delivers twice the performance in temperature-sensitive environments, dramatically reducing cold air exchange and energy loss.
Maximum Temperature Retention
Air curtain doors minimize heat transfer in high-traffic areas. This ensures consistent climate control in cold storage and provides energy savings.
Built for High-Traffic Cold Zones
Industrial air doors are engineered for distribution centers, warehouses, and food processing plants. They allow wide open access without compromising efficiency.
The HCR® Double Air Curtain, formerly known as the Double Conditioned Air Vestibule (DCAV), is a modern climate control system. The Double Air Curtain is the second model in HCR's world-leading air door product line. Using a two-curtain air barrier, these cooler and freezer doors separate environments for differing temperature zones.
Each air curtain generates a stream of conditioned air, working together to form a controlled vestibule. This vestibule captures and stabilizes air as it passes between temperature zones. This design significantly reduces warm air and moisture infiltration, preventing condensation and frost buildup in cold storage and warehouse environments.
The first stream of air provides a barrier that blocks, captures, and recirculates the air conditioning the incoming air above dew point. The second stream reinforces the barrier, ensuring minimal disruption to internal temperatures. This dual-layer approach enhances energy efficiency and reduces strain on refrigeration systems. It also extends the lifespan of facility equipment.
HCR® recirculatory air doors are proudly engineered, designed, and manufactured in the United States. These custom engineered solutions do more than perform—they redefine what’s possible in climate-critical spaces.

HCR® equipment is an engineered solution, as such what is represented here is a standard offering. Anything beyond these would be norms can be evaluated.
Double Air Curtain
The HCR® Double Air Curtain features a unique dual airstream design to enhance thermal separation and energy efficiency. These two curtains work sequentially, forming a vestibule between different temperature zones. The vestibule acts as an immediate space that reduces the direct exchange of air flow between the two controlled environments.
80% Efficiencient Separation
HCR®'s air door technology is 80%+ efficient at stopping air infiltration and energy transfer between rooms with different temperatures. Designed for wide-open entryways, the air stream pushes back with equal force against the natural airflow caused by temperature differences between zones. This makes it ideal for high traffic areas.
Connected and Precise
Special HCR® sensors and software let the Double Air Curtain connect directly to your facility’s building management system (BMS). This allows for real-time monitoring. It helps facilities recognize any issue with the cold space or air door to avoid maintenance delays.
Applications for HCR® Air Curtains
HCR® recirculatory air doors are ideal for cold storage warehouses, food processing plants, and distribution centers. They help save energy, protect products, and create a more comfortable workspace by keeping cold air out of adjacent areas and docks.
Air Curtains for Cold Storage
In cold storage warehouses, maintaining stable temperatures during high-volume traffic is critical. The Double Air Curtain forms a powerful thermal barrier at entry points. This reduces energy loss and keeps cold zones consistent.
Food Processing Facilities
Food production environments require strict climate separation between processing areas and refrigerated zones. Cooler and freezer air doors allow for seamless transitions. This technology minimizes condensation, prevents frost buildup, and helps food producers maintain hygiene standards.
Air Doors for Warehouses
Industrial warehouse doors see constant opening and closing. HCR®'s dual air curtain technology protects against temperature swings by keeping a wide-open entry. The doorless system supports faster workflows without compromising climate control. Making the ideal air door for freezer and cooler-to-ambient transitions.
